Halloween Fun: Oct. 26

Come join the Witches of River Bookshop, as they lead our Trick or Treat Costume Parade through Amherstburg's Downtown Core.

River Bookshop is hosting a Pumpkin Carving Contest as part of our Halloween Festivities.

This contest is open to All Ages!

To enter:
Bring your carved pumpkin 🎃 to River Bookshop between 10 AM and 12 PM on Saturday, October 26th. Each pumpkin entry must be registered with a staff member to be assigned a number for judging.
We will also need your name and contact information.

All of the pumpkin entries will be displayed around the River Bookshop exterior and our Art Alley. Viewing and voting will begin at noon on Saturday October 26, and end at noon on Sunday October 27.
Ballots will then be counted, and several prizes will be awarded. Participants will have the chance to win and receive an OOLY ART Prize.

All pumpkins must be picked up by their carvers on Monday October 28th, by 5 PM.

"When the Lights Go Out at River Bookshop",
Do the Jellycats come alive?
Do the books speak for themselves?
Or do our shelves hold other spooky secrets?

We invite all 4-18 year olds to use their wildest imaginations to write a short poem about what they think happens "When The Lights Go Out at River Bookshop."

Our Poetry Contest Rules:
Your poem must be no longer than 8 lines
(Not including the title).
Your name, age, grade, and telephone number must be included with your poem.
Your poem must be dropped off or emailed to info@riverbookshop.com,
by 12:00 PM. /Noon on Friday, October 25th, 2024.

Winners will receive a Spooky Book Prize and will be notified and given the opportunity to read their poem at our Sunday Story Time on October 27th.

Winners will be judged in three categories,
Grades JK-3, Grades 4-8, and Grades 9-12.

We encourage teachers to participate in our Poetry Contest with their classes as well.
