We have something special for spooky season with this month's Alumni Meet-Up. We're recognizing The Art of Horror with a panel discussion featuring authors C. M. Forest and Ainslie Hogarth, and filmmakers Nicholas Shields and Michael Stasko. It's sure to be a great conversation about horror, Windsor-Essex County, and the literary and cinematic arts.

About the Panelists

C. M. Forest is the author of Infested and We All Fall Before the Harvest, as well as the short story collection The Space Between Houses, and the co-author of the short-story collection No Light Tomorrow. In 2023, Infested was the winner of the Benjamin Franklin Silver Award for Best Horror Novel. A self-proclaimed horror movie expert, he spent an embarrassing amount of his youth watching scary movies.

Ainslie Hogarth is the author of the YA novels The Lonely and The Boy Meets Girl Massacre (Annotated). She lives in Canada with her husband, kids, and little dog.

Nicholas Shields is co-founder of Suede Productions where as creative director the company has risen to international prominence as a boutique production house for its work on major brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Lowes. Most recently collaborations with the Stratford Festival have resulted in more than twenty films for Stratfest@home – a global streaming service. Suede's latest feature film, "Depraved Mind" (written and directed by Shields) is currently making the rounds in film festivals throughout North America and has garnered several awards. It will be screened at the Windsor International Film Festival before a hometown audience on October 27 and is scheduled to begin streaming in early 2024. Nick is a proud graduate of UWindsor and holds a BA in Communication Studies. 

Michael Stasko, is an award-winning filmmaker who has written, produced, and directed five feature films that have premiered at prestigious festivals and sold to major distributors. His films range from comedy to sci-fi to drama, and feature stars like Ray Wise, Tom Cavanagh, Fred Willard, Graham Greene, Colin Mochrie and Kevin McDonald. He has also created and produced original TV shows for YTV and CBC. Michael Stasko is a versatile and visionary storyteller who always delivers engaging and entertaining stories for the screen. Works include "Things To Do" (2006), "Iodine" (2009), "The Brider" (2014), "The Control" (2018) and "Boys vs. Girls" (2020).

Most recently he produced the psychological thriller "Depraved Mind" with Suede Productions, and it's currently enjoying a successful film festival run. His current project "Vampire Zombies...from Space!" is in advance post-production and gearing up for a festival run in early 2024. Michael is a proud graduate of UWindsor and holds a BA in Communication Studies.
