Celebrating Detroit River Heritage (Please Note Time Change)

Celebrating Detroit River Heritage (Please Note Time Change)

Sep 5, 2022

Today we have just a quick reminder about this Wednesday, September 7th. We're celebrating the Detroit River with two events, at 3:30pm and 6:30pm.

The Detroit River is unique in Canada, the United States, and indeed the World. In 2001 it became the first and only river to receive both Canadian and American Heritage River Designations. As the busiest international waterway in North America, the Detroit River, is in fact more of a road than a boundary.

At 3:30pm, Mayor Aldo DiCarlo will unveil a plaque on a mural in the Navy Yard Park that celebrates the river. (Please note this time was previously scheduled for 5:30, and has been changed to 3:30.) Then at 6:30pm, Danielle Stuebing of the Essex Region Conservation Authority will host a presentation that will definitely educate and engage our readers. We'll be hosting that above the bookshop in our Hole in the Wall event space. As usual, when you're here to browse before or after one of our events, you can receive 10% off any title in the store! If you know you'll be attending the event, we encourage you to register by emailing info@riverbookshop.com so we can plan for attendance.

We hope to see you there!
