Elaine Weeks is one of our favourite people. Not only is she a fine author, but she is part of the Chris Edwards/Elaine Weeks team at Walkerville Publishing, which has published local bestsellers such as Brewed in Windsor, Windsor Before and After, and 500 Ways You Know You’re From Windsor. In fact it was their books that convinced us that we should team up with Walkerville and Meg Reiner for her first book, Heritage Buildings of Amherstburg.*
As an author, Elaine has many local history book credits to her name that you probably have on your shelves, including:
- Postcards From The Past: Windsor & The Border Cities
- Windsor Then
- 500 Ways You Know You’re From Windsor
- A Forgotten City
- Whisky Town Extraordinaire
Now, adding to this list is her new novel Time Trespasser.
To celebrate, we’re pleased to host Elaine on Thursday, September 29 at 6:30, when she will do a reading and share the story of how she came up with this very interesting read about time travel. The September 14 River Town Times book review had this to say about her book:
“Imagine a violent racist Tennessee slave owner from 1837 somehow gets transported 175 years into the future. From his hospital bed he learns that his plantation estate is now a heritage site. Even worse - slaves have been freed and a Black president now leads the United States. And to compound matters the individuals who try to help him are young Black men. He loathes them while not understanding why they would help him? Author Elaine Weeks weaves a fascinating story about this time trespasser.”
In the lead-up to the event, we're offering the book at 15% off in our store!
On September 29, come out and meet Elaine at River Bookshop: she will do a reading from Time Trespasser, sign copies of her books, and answer questions. We know you will like her and her work as much as we do!
