Reflecting on almost 200 events

Reflecting on almost 200 events

Sep 29, 2023

Educate. Inspire. Engage. Entertain.

As I travel to great small towns across Ontario, I always visit the local bookshop. They all play an important role in helping making their town great. Few have an event space like our Hole in the Wall — a space that really allows us to be a true Third Place that lives our four values. And last Friday night, Brittlestar sure did entertain!

(Thanks to @brittlestar on Twitter for the photo!)

After that funny and successful (sold out!) show, I reflected on the almost 200 events we have hosted in our event space since we opened over three years ago.

So many were special … here are just a few:

AWE “Group of Seven” pop-up art show

Tea & Poetry, hosted by Marty Gervais

   Bird man: Phil Roberts

Meg Reiner’s “Heritage Buildings of Amherstburg”

“Boblo Boats: A Detroit Ferry Tale” movie

   TRUE Fest pop-up bar

   Robert Honor BelleVue history

Jennifer Emilson “The Lemon Apron Cookbook”

   Pelee Island's Mayor Cathy Miller

   Local Author Fairs

   The Kraken’s annual visit

And our events continue — next week on Thursday, October 5th with an important panel on “banned books.” (Click here to register and save your spot!)

Plus, we are actually hosting a wedding!! Did you know we rent out the Hole in the Wall as well?

So if you don’t want to miss out on our events, go to riverbookshop.com and register for our regular newsletters at the bottom of the page.

Definitely more than a bookshop.
