It's our BIRTHDAY!!

It's our BIRTHDAY!!

Aug 4, 2021

WE ARE SO HAPPY TO CELEBRATE OUR FIRST BIRTHDAY!

The entire River Bookshop team is delighted to celebrate its very first birthday with you on Saturday August 14th.

Needless to day we never imagined, back in August of 2020, that our first year would play out against a worldwide pandemic. Like all businesses, organizations  …. and everyone ... it has been a huge challenge with a lot of pivoting, adapting and adjusting. As a team, we rolled with the punches and worked hard to make sure that we could offer a wonderful experience day in and day out.  We didn’t do it alone though and we are so thankful to our publishers, our authors, our staff; and of course you - our wonderful readers - for helping us successfully get through these trying times. We quite literally couldn’t have done it without you. You made a small independent bookshop into a Third Place, a community gathering place. You helped us win the Biz X Outstanding New Business of 2020 and the Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce New Business of the Year Award. We are so grateful for the support and encouragement we received over the last year.

So on August 14th we would like to thank YOU.

It’s our birthday but we’ve got presents for YOU!

From our inception we said we believe that books make our readers’ lives better. And we  promised that our bookshop would reinforce that belief by practicing four core values: educate, inspire, engage and entertain. Today we are confident that we have done that over the past twelve months.  But rest assured we will not be standing still. We will continue to bring in the newest, most interesting titles. We will be resuming our popular speaker series in September (look for info in our upcoming Newsletters).  We will continue to champion Open Air and town events like the Uncommon Festival and Cars Gone Crazy.  And our book sellers will continue to know their titles and be happy to help you find your next great read.

And our neighbours are not standing still either. The Panetteria is about to open. Work has started on our Candy Shop next door and hopes to be open for the holidays.  And David Derkz will be creating three bold and colourful murals around our properties. We know that the next twelve months are going to be awesome.

So after a challenging twelve months we are still standing - stronger than ever. The best is yet to come.
