STORYTIME KICK OFF!

“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book, and read to a child.”

-Dr. Seuss

Storytime is back and better than ever!

Last Sunday, we were joined by the marvelous Maestro Robert Franz of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra who shared some of his favourite books (Interrupting Chicken by David Ezra Stein, The Book With No Pictures by B.J. Novak, The Remarkable Farkle McBride by John Lithgow, Grumpy Monkey by Suzanne Lang and Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin by Lloyd Moss with a crowd of avid readers and music lovers.

Thank you to all who attended our very first storytime of 2022. We hope you will sign up for our next storytime on June 5th with Ms. Lauren. She is excited to announce that she will be reading the following books to her amazing audience… drum roll please…

I Don't Want to Read This Book by Max Greenfield, HI-Five Farm by Ross Burach, There's a Superhero in Your Book by Tom Fletcher and The Very Impatient Caterpillar by Ross Burach.

What’s more, Sergeant Lisa Cheney of the Windsor Police - Amherstburg Detachment will be visiting the Bookshop Sunday, June 12th, and she will be bringing along a police car. If your child is a fan of specialty vehicles or they aspire to be a police officer, they will love this special storytime event. Reserve your seats ahead of time by calling (226)-906-8311 or emailing info@riverbookshop.com. This celebrity storytime will surely be a popular one.

A bit of history on the Amherstburg Police Force… The Amherstburg detachment of the Windsor Police Force has been serving the Amherstburg community since 2019. Staff Sergeant Lisa Cheney became head of the Amherstburg force in June 2020, in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, she has made a strong effort to get to know the Amherstburg community.

Sergeant Cheney will be reading an array of engaging police-themed books as well as books about kindness and community. (Police Officers on Patrol by Kersten Hamilton, ABCs of Kindness by Samantha Berger and Choose Kindness by Ruth Ohi). She will also be available to answer questions about her profession for curious kids and adults alike.

We hope you enjoy one of our many upcoming storytime sessions.

Have a fantastic day,

The River Bookshop Team
