Uncommon Festival, Sept. 15-17

THE KRAKEN IS COMING BACK 🦑

One of our favourite and most popular Amherstburg events is returning — the Uncommon Festival. It’s happening this weekend, Friday-Sunday, September 15-17. Every year it gets bigger and better, and we can't wait to see what this year holds.

This festival celebrates “steampunk” — a subgenre of science fiction that incorporates retro futuristic technology and aesthetics inspired by 19th century industrial steam-powered machinery. We love the steampunk programming the town puts on, but what we really love is how many people dress up and get into the spirit.

It is also the weekend the tentacles emerge from the Hole in the Wall windows. One of the best photo ops in the county.

The River Bookshop team has assembled a number of steampunk, sci-fi, and fantasy books to help you get in the mood. Come and check them out!

We’re more than a bookshop — we’re the home of the KRAKEN (not the NHL Seattle hockey team).

See you this weekend!
