Open Air Weekends are back! Recently awarded “Best Street Festival“ at the Best of Windsor Essex Awards, and “The Most Wonderful Event of the Year” at the Biz X Awards.

Night Markets on Fridays, bagpipe parades on select Saturdays, free yoga in the park on Sundays, and of course our local shopping, restaurant patios, and live entertainment!

This summer, River Bookshop has something fun for everyone. Our FIRST Kids Summer Reading Challenge is underway. Read 8 books this summer, record each book on your challenge sheet (available in store or print from Facebook), and submit your completed sheet in store by Aug 31st to enter the draw!

Also, River Bookshop will be hosting the first Kids Masterpieces of Art Colouring Contest on Saturday, July 20th, at 1PM. And the Kids Puzzle Challenge is on Sunday, July 21st, from 1-3PM, hosted by The Richmond Popcorn Co. All are FREE to join! To reserve your spot, email the bookshop for the colouring contest or the popcorn shop for the puzzle challenge.

And for adults... at our summer Books in the 'Burg Book Club meetup, we'll talk about five Canadian reads. Pick one or read them all:

  • This Summer Will Be Different
  • We Were Dreamers
  • Final Report
  • Peace by Chocolate
  • A Chimney Sweeper's Come to Dust 

If you'd like to join us for this discussion, we'll be meeting on Tuesday, August 13th at 7PM at River Bookshop, and offered on Zoom as well. The books are in stock now at 15% off for members. If you'd like the join the club just email us or visit the bookshop.

Plus, River Bookshop loves their local authors and has regularly hosted Local Author Fairs to help introduce them to our community of readers. They're delighted that 20 local authors will be participating in the next fair between Saturday, July 20th and Sunday, July 21st in the Hole in the Wall. Happening each day between 1-4PM. This fair is unique, as it's part of the Amherstburg Art Crawl. Books are magic, and they're another art form we can enjoy that weekend. Summer is underway and we have a special Story Time planned for this Sunday. Join us in the streets under our River Bookshop tent, Sundays at 11AM.

This Sunday we welcome Suzanne Atkin, teacher and librarian at Anderdon Public School, who will be sharing stories about summer delights! Join us this Sunday for a reading that celebrates everything summer, like road trips, beaches, and ice cream.

The market this week runs from 5-9PM on Friday, July 12th in the downtown along Richmond St., Dalhousie St., and Murray St.

FRIDAY - Justin Jewell at 5PM on the downtown streets, followed by Brooke Mckenna at 7PM on the downtown streets.

SATURDAY - Taylor Hallatt at 3PM on the downtown streets, followed by Hartt Goldman at 4PM on the downtown streets.

SUNDAY - Harbouring Illusions at 3PM at the King’s Navy Yard Park Gazebo, followed by Clutterbuck at 4PM on the downtown streets.
