WILL AMHERSTBURG BE AMONG THE FIRST?
The Ontario government has approved a pilot project using enhanced golf carts on municipal roads. A couple of communities like Lakeshore’s Lighthouse Cove, and Pelee Island are participating in the test. What about Amherstburg? There’s lots to like about the concept:
- Its green and takes cars off our downtown streets. Great for Open Air
- It can increase mobility for people who don’t have cars
- It’s local. Amherstburg GM is opening a plant to assemble the carts. New jobs like that are tough to find in small towns!
Amherstburg GM is sponsoring the Junior Art Crawl on July 20 in Art Alley. Three hours of music, dance, games and fun. Families can also see how safe and fun they are as there be rides on their new all electric ICON or EPiC brands.
Come on Amherstburg be an advocate for change and apply to be a test community!
THROWBACK: SHOP LOCAL
Meg Reiner, from the Marsh Collection Team, found this amazing example of a Canadian company finding success by encouraging the public to buy a Canadian product. The shredded wheat ad above was published in The Amherstburg Echo August 19, 1932.
HELP CANADA, shop local!
So much to see and do in Amherstburg!
We hope to see you downtown this weekend.
