BOOKSHOP EXTRAORDINAIRE

How many bookshops do you know with a secret door to a staircase that leads to a Bar Lounge that specializes in fine wines and has a new menu specifically dedicated to late night eats?

The answer is ONE! You might have noticed the new patio on Richmond Street, located outside River Bookshop and HOLE IN THE WALL. It is now open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. Espresso Martini, anyone?

THEY'LL CALL ME FREEDOM JUST LIKE A WAVIN' FLAG

It's the last weekend of Pride Month, and so it's your last chance to browse our PRIDE display. There’s something for everyone here, from educational books for little ones, to fun puzzles and picture books, fiction, nonfiction, and staff picks.

We’re going to enjoy every moment of the bright, fun colours in the front window. We hope you will too!

STORY TIME SUNDAY: CANADA DAY PARTY

This Sunday we are Celebrating Canada. 🍁 Join us at 11AM for Story Time on June 29th. Amherstburg Deputy Mayor Chris Gibb will be joining us as our guest storyteller to share books about Canada 🍁, authored by Canadians.

We encourage our Story Time friends to wear their favourite RED outfit, and bring a cold drink to make our outdoor Story Time even more cozy and cool. We hope to see you Sunday.

KIDS SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

Our Kids Summer Reading Challenge is back! Whether you're relaxing poolside, on a road trip, reading by flashlight in your sleeping bag, or waiting for your next game at the ball diamond, BRING A BOOK with you and fill your summer with fun.

To join, simply print off the 2025 Kids Summer Reading Challenge Journal Sheet above or ask for one in store. When you finish reading a book, record the book title and a small note about what you enjoyed about it in the book log sheet. Return the signed and completed journal to River Bookshop by August 31st and you will be entered into our draw for a chance to win a $50.00 gift card and other prizes!

SAVE THE DATE: SATURDAY, JULY 19th

Kevin Burdick is a very celebrated muralist from Flint, Michigan. He has created one of the three new murals that will be formally unveiled at the Art Crawl on July 19th at noon, in the Art Alley. The name of the mural is "Art is the Answer."

Come and meet all the artists and get to understand their inspiration and background. Art Alley is becoming one of the must-visit hotspots in Amherstburg. Click here to watch an interview with Kevin Burdick.

THIS ISN'T JUST PASTA!

It’s hand-crafted, perfectly al dente, tossed to perfection and finished with a generous snowfall of Pecorino Romano DOP & Grana Padano DOP cheeses.

Every bite is warm, comforting, and elevated in the way only simple ingredients done right can be. Pair it with a crisp glass of white and let the night unfold, one slow twirl at a time.

Visit HOLE IN THE WALL this weekend. The Patio is now open to walk-ins, or make reservations online for the dining room.

Last weekend's PRIDE Sunday Story Time was so much fun! It might have been raining outside, but it was all sunshine and rainbows in the Children's Nook. Huge thank you to Derrick Biso and friends for joining us as our guests. Thanks, Derrick, from the River Bookshop Team and all our Story Time families.

So much to see and do in Amherstburg!

We hope to see you downtown this weekend.
