CHEER ON CANADA WITH US THIS SATURDAY!

Canada has made it to the Sweet Sixteen of the World Cup, and the whole community is invited to gather in downtown Amherstburg to cheer them on!

Join River Bookshop and Evelyn's Candy House this Saturday for Canada vs. Morocco, kicking off at 1PM. We'll have a television set up outside, seating available, and plenty of hometown spirit as Canada takes the pitch.

To make the day even more fun, we'll have soccer-themed prizes, including an official Trionda Soccer Ball, Sweet 16% off all soccer-themed books at River Bookshop, and items for sale at Evelyn's Candy House that celebrate Canada and soccer.

Bring you friends, wear your red and white, and come celebrate this exciting World Cup moment with us in Amherstburg. Let's cheer Canada on together!

TOWN CRIER STORY TIME SUNDAY

Hear ye hear ye!! River Bookshop invites you to Sunday Story Time! Be it known that this week our special guest reader is Amherstburg Town Crier, Norman Ross.

Come one, come all, as we gather in the heart of our great town, and partake in the Story Time fun on Sunday, July 5th at 11AM at River Bookshop!

WHAT MAKES AMHERSTBURG GREAT

"RADIO IS THE THEATRE OF THE MIND"

—ORSON WELLES

                … AND …

"NEWSPAPERS ARE TUTORS AS WELL AS INFORMERS"

—NEIL KINNOCK

There are approximately 5100 communities across Canada. Approximately only 130 small communities have radio stations, and only 750 have community newspapers, many of which are only available online. How many communities do you think have both like Amherstburg? Very, very few!

The River Town Times was established in 1995 and covers local news, sports, and community events. In 2023, local residents Ron Giofu (everyone knows Ron), Laura, and Dominic D’Alessandro purchased the paper.

CKBG - the Burg 107.9 is also dedicated to local community news, music, and supporting musicians. It went on air July 3rd  in 2023. Owning his own radio station was a life’s ambition of the late Marty Adler, and launching CKBG fulfilled a lifelong dream. Today the torch has been passed to his son Greg.

WMAG chose today as the time to shine a light on RTT and CKBG because they share birthday dates. So happy birthday 🥳 to both of them.

Having BOTH an independent radio station and a local newspaper in our small community is pretty special. They are both perfect examples of what makes Amherstburg great! So if you enjoy their coverage, please tune in and also pick up a paper.

Tune in every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday / Sunday at 8AM, to catch Nate Carr and Richard Peddie talking all about What Makes Amherstburg Great!

WHAT MAKE AMHERSTBURG GREAT: NEXT WEEK

Amherstburg is "hot," and the Arts have definitely contributed to this. Next week we will talk about the 4th Annual Art Crawl 🖼️🎶💃📚 in the Open Air footprint.

GIBSON GALLERY EXHIBIT CLOSING JULY 5

Association of Representational Artists - Group Exhibition Collective Visions - Shared Sight June 16 - July 5

The Gibson Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition by members of the Association of Representational Artists (ARA). This exhibition showcases a wide range of representational works, highlighting strong technical skill, thoughtful composition, and a commitment to realism and traditional art practices.

Featuring painting, drawing, and mixed media, the exhibition celebrates artists who are dedicated to observing and interpreting the world around them through recognizable forms and subject matter.

Visitors are invited to experience the depth, craft, and visual storytelling that define representational art. Join a FREE draw at our closing reception for a chance to win one of two paintings by our professional artists.

Last Sunday we hit the streets and splashed into summer with tales of summer time fun. Huge thanks to our guest reader Simmie Sereg for joining us! We hope to see our Story Time families again this Sunday at 11AM.

So much to see and do in Amherstburg!

We hope to see you downtown this weekend.
