HOLIDAY JELLYDROP OCT 11TH AT 10AM

We know you're excited about Christmas Jellies, and so are we! A reminder that our festive friends will be here earlier than we thought, and we're planning our JellyDrop for Saturday, October 11th. They'll be available starting at 10AM when we open!

There will be a limit of 2 Christmas Jellies per person per day for the opening weekend, and these will be available IN STORE only. See you Saturday!

CELEBRATING BANNED BOOKS WEEK

Banned Books Week is an annual awareness campaign promoted by the American Library Association and Amnesty International that celebrates the freedom to read, draws attention to banned and challenged books, and highlights persecuted individuals.

River Bookshop is recognizing Banned Books Week from Oct 5th to 11th. Visit the shop this week to see our display of many of the books in question, as well as tote bags, bookmarks, and notebooks that reflect banned books.

CHILDREN'S BOOK READING EVENT

Join us for a Children's Book Reading on Saturday, October 11th, at 12:30PM! Local children's author Tzophia DeSantis & Ms. Elite Windsor have plenty of activities planned for our little visitors. 

Activities:

  • Plant a seed
  • Make a crown
  • Grab some popcorn

Weather allowing, we will be outside!

THANKSGIVING STORY TIME SUNDAY

Are you joining us for Story Time? Sunday, October 12th at 11AM, Bookseller Darrie-Ann will be sharing stories in celebration of Thanksgiving and the beginning of fall. 

Story Time this week is about gathering your family together and gathering in the sights and sounds of this holiday weekend.

RIVER BOOKSHOP'S KIDS POETRY CONTEST IS BACK

Halloween in Amherstburg is the theme of our kids' halloween poetry contest this year, and we can't wait to see how our young writers connect this spooky season to our historic riverfront hometown.

Contest Rules are:

  • All submissions must be written by a student between the ages of 6 and 18 years.
  • All submissions must be written about Halloween in Amherstburg.
  • All submissions must NOT be longer than 16 lines in length.
  • All submissions must be received by River Bookshop in person or by email at info@riverbookshop.com by noon on Friday, October 24th, 2025. 
  • Please include your name, age, and contact info with your submission.

Our winners will be contacted on Saturday, October 25th. Winners will also be invited to read their poem at Sunday Story Time on October 26th. Happy Writing!
