Weekly Buzz Newsletter: Uncommon Festival

Weekly Buzz Newsletter: Uncommon Festival

Sep 19, 2024

Are you joining us for the the most anticipated event of the year? The Amherstburg Uncommon Festival is back and we will be dancing in the street all weekend long.

The streets will be closed to traffic and open to family fun! Party like it's Open Air, but dress up in your favourite wizardry or steampunk cosplay costume!

UNLEASH THE KRAKEN!

The Kraken is an ancient seas monster that has terrorized sailors  for hundreds of years. It seems that every time the Uncommon Festival comes around it rises from the deepest parts of Lake Erie and takes residence in the Hole in the Wall.

While we can’t promise safe entry into River Bookshop, we have never lost a book lover in 3 years. Fingers crossed!

Our very own Story Time Coordinator, Darrie-Ann, will be entertaining our youngest readers at Story Time this weekend.

Come join us at 11AM on Sunday for some uncommon picture books, and experience the fun and excitement of Amherstburg's UNCOMMON FEST.

You never know what unusual sights you may see! Story Time takes place every Sunday at 11AM.

The Uncommon Festival is back and the streets are closed all weekend long! FRIDAY, SEPT 20: 5-10PM, SATURDAY, SEPT 21: 12-10PM, SUNDAY, SEPT 22: 12-6PM.

Dress up in your favourite costume and join us for a weekend filled with fun. Expect more buskers, live performances, games, vendors, and downtown businesses open to serve you and wackier-than-ever, fun-filled days. You will want to return every single day so you don’t miss a thing!

With Hotel STRY, the Anchor District has arrived!

All great small towns need a hotel. They are “gravity” that attract visitors and allow them to stay and enjoy a town like Amherstburg even longer, and when you create a hotel that is in a beautifully restored heritage building, it’s a bonus.

Hotel STRY's expansive suites combine old world charm and thoughtful contemporary design. Original brick walls line the rooms and extend up to meet soaring loft ceilings. Vast windows let natural light pour into the suites, some stretching almost from floor to ceiling. Each suite (six total) has a distinct theme, complementing the building’s original features in a unique way. For more information visit hotelstry.ca

(And be sure to visit during Uncommon Fest to see which creature has taken over the hotel!)

NEW Hole in the Wall Cocktail Lounge OPENING OCTOBER 4TH.

For four years, visitors have been saying that the HITW would make a great cozy bar. Well, that day is coming very soon!!

We have created an upscale cocktail lounge with new furniture, a gorgeous bar, and updated art collection. Importantly, we have hired a Master Sommelier to offer an outstanding selection of wines seldom offered in the area. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to find out more details about the opening of another new addition to beautiful Amherstburg.
