Welcome White Woods Home!

When we opened the River Bookshop in the historic 1885 building at the corner of Richmond & Ramsay we announced that our goal was to increase the economic, social and cultural health of Amherstburg. Our plan was to introduce new retail stores that did not currently exist in Amherstburg creating reasons for residents from across the county to visit our downtown. Our next initiative was restoring 248 Ramsay for bakers Anna and Simon to launch their very successful bakery, The Panetteria.
Earlier this year we announced Evelyn’s Candy House will be opening at 63 Richmond. Evelyn’s made an appearance at Open Air events this past summer and there are rumours we may see some more offerings prior to Christmas 😉.
Today we are pleased to announce White Woods Home which is being constructed right next door to Evelyn’s. White Woods will feature kitchen and house wares. The vision is to facilitate the gathering of family and friends with beautifully designed cookware and tableware. We will eliminate the burden of too much choice by curating the most beautiful goods for the home.
Esther Reaume
We are thrilled that Esther Reaume has decided to join White Woods Home as Retail Director. Many of you will remember Esther as the Owner/Operator of the successful ‘The Cookshop Kitchen Shop’ in Windsor. After many years creating some of the best EPIC Wineries’ events she is back in the home goods game bringing her extensive homeware expertise to Amherstburg and the County. Let Esther help you set your table, outfit your kitchen, or set up your Wedding Registry. Her knowledge and enthusiasm can’t be beat.
Why White Woods? When French explorers discovered the island at the mouth of Lake Erie, they named the island “Bois Blanc” after the many birch trees in the area. Today it is known as Boblo but that is actually an English corruption of the French phrase.
Richard and I have really enjoyed living on Boblo / Bois Blanc for the past thirteen years. The island drew us to the county and introduced us to the beautiful town of Amherstburg. The island also introduced us to Esther as she too is a resident. Boblo brought us all here, it brought us together and we love associating our investments with the rich heritage of the area, so we think White Woods is a great name for this unique retail shop.
We don’t want you to have to wait until construction is completed to get a peek at our shop, so we have setup a pop-up shop at the Christmas Market at Hole In The Wall (above River Bookshop). We will be there every Saturday and Sunday now through Christmas. Here are just a few of the brands that we will be offering at the pop-up:
Our Wedding and Gift Registries will be up and running early in the new year, well before construction is complete. Please keep an eye on our soon to be launched website and our Instagram page for more news. To hear more about our Registry services please visit us at the Wedding Extravaganza '22 on January 15th and 16th or email us at info@whitewoodshome.ca
Life Is Beautiful,
