Sometimes as we age and experience more of life, our connection to our past takes on new meaning. Our traditions and history, especially as immigrants, can fade with time and be lost to future generations. In this book I look back at Abbateggio, my medieval village, and discover its unique human and geological history. From the Stone Age to the modern era, this journey back in time turned out to be an enthralling adventure, not only into my family's history, but into the history of primitive man. Archaeological sites reveal the town and the surrounding area to be the second most important study of prehistoric man in Europe and the first in Italy. Interwoven within this context of the town's history are my family's history and stories, preserved here for future generations.
