In May of 2020, four Canadian writers formed a poetry critique group. Amidst global upheaval and personal loss, the collective of intergenerational poets; originally from Zimbabwe, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Canada, committed themselves to the ongoing practice of responsive engagement with one another's work. Liminal Spaces is the result of the group's collaborative efforts to midwive one another's poetry over five historically significant years. The ekphrastic poems in this collection invite the reader to share in the curious magic inherent to the liminal spaces between love and loss, memory and moment, artist and art. In touching the poetic potential of the liminal, the reader accesses the enduring promise of true human connection offered by an intimate engagement with art across era, geography and genre.
